Schools Half Marathon & Schools Marathon Surrey, Bedfordshire, Hampshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire and Essex will be managed by Regional Lead Debbie Watts, herself a running coach, mum of three and very aware of the benefits of getting children active.

Debbie is the owner of Mole Valley Fitness and Founder of Mole Valley Runners, a voluntary England Athletics affiliated club and online running community in the Surrey Hills. Mole Valley Runners now has 570 community members, and Debbie gets huge reward seeing the support and belief shared between runners of all levels. As well as being a Coach in Running Fitness, Debbie is a personal trainer, Kettlercise instructor, ex-mental health nurse and Mental Health Champion, all of which make her an ideal person to head up Schools Half Marathon in her local area.

It is Debbie’s love of running that has led her to want to create opportunities for the next generation and help young runners experience the incredible confidence that running can bring. Currently exploring the world of ultra running, and with the added incentive of wanting to raise awareness for her 7-year-old son who has alopecia, Debbie is excited to take on this new venture and help school pupils across her regions achieve their very own half marathon.

Debbie Watts added, “I am delighted to take on Schools Half Marathon in Surrey, Berkshire, Bedfordshire, Hampshire, Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire and Essex and am thrilled at the prospect of helping hundreds of primary school age pupils to experience the joy of regular activity. I absolutely love running and what it gives. It’s an amazing journey of self-discovery, realising that you are so much more than you ever thought possible, and this is something can be experienced and enjoyed at any age and at any level. I am very much looking forward to meeting schools across the area and to making a difference to the next generation through this wonderful opportunity.”
