Jo Gennari, General Manager at Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust and founder of #TeamLGT, commented“I am proud to say that we have got a team of 100 runners taking part in The Tree Run this April. A big thank you to One Running Movement for gifting 100 places that allow us to raise funds, and to anyone else entering The Tree Run in aid of Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust. In addition to the benefits of running for our health we love that a tree is not only planted, but that we can dedicate that tree to a loved one. We have sadly lost a number of colleagues during the COVID-19 pandemic. We will be running in their memory and will dedicate our trees to them.”

One Running Movement and RingPay announce Digilearning Charity news on Clubhouse

A first in many aspects was achieved today by working collaboratively to make a difference and making the most of launching the news of the new sensation that is Clubhouse.

Clubhouse is an audio-only social media app that allows people from around the world to connect and talk. According to the creators “it’s a place to meet with friends and new people from around the world to tell stories, ask questions, debate and have impromptu conversations on thousands of different topics”. One Running Movement, McLEAR and Digilearning are early adopters of Clubhouse.

The announcement saw the partnership between One Running Movement, RingPay by McLEAR and Digilearning reveal the new way to work together in the active communities, social mobility and digital payment space as one to raise valuable funds for the UK Charity Digilearning through a new feature on RingPay.

One Running Movement was established to help create more active communities for all ages, inclusivity & the creation of healthy habits by working together. One Running Movement is on a mission, with their growing network of supportive partners and movers, to encourage #MoveForLife. Committed to create social change by utilising the power of movement to improve health, strengthen resilience, build mental health, raise awareness and increase overall confidence whilst creating a safe space to move for all backgrounds and sporting abilities is the main aim of ORM. 2021 sees ORM’s continued focus on Body, Mind & Planet, whilst committed to support essential movement and activity for all ages, now needed more than ever.

One Running Movement’s partnership with RingPay pioneers McLEAR, has been evolving over the years with both parties working together to drive the movement forwards and to increase regular physical activity for current and future generations to #MoveForLife

RingPay by McLEAR are the pioneers of the wearable payment technology for consumers and businesses, and have been adding essential features to their technology including their new RingPay Giving feature, launched in partnership with Parsnip (getparsnip.com). This feature has allowed for the three parties to work together to offer opportunities for disadvantaged children and young adults in the ever changing digital space to be equipped ready with skills for now and the future.

Digilearning is a UK registered charity dedicated to educating children, parents, and teachers with digital skills for now and the future. Social mobility and diversity in the workforce is at their core whilst equipping children to know the foundations of the online and offline world now and for the future.

The new RingPay Giving feature allows Ring holders to automatically send a micro-sized donation to their chosen charity when they make a purchase using their Smart Ring. Ring holders control how much they give using monthly donation caps. Any donations made to One Running Movement’s preferred charity, Digilearning will contribute to free technology education courses for children, young adults, adults, parents and teachers. These newly designed courses, that ORM and Digilearning build together will have input and support from McLEAR.

Joe Williams and Rebecca Richardson, Founders of One Running Movement, said: “We are so proud of this new world digital space collaboration and excited about all working together whilst educating and supporting the future generations with our amazing partners.

“Making a difference is important to us all, launching this positive news on Clubhouse today is a first of its kind announced on a new platform designed to connect and talk. The leaders in their industry panel at 1pm today on Clubhouse ‘One Running Movement’ was the perfect place to announce the collaboration, with the aim to raise valuable funds together for this amazing charity”.

Lisa Goodchild, Founder of Digilearning Foundation, British Entrepreneur Top 100 added: “Currently there are 22% of children living in relative poverty in the UK and this number is growing. We must get to the root of the cause and ensure people have the essential skills to thrive in life and a concerted focus needs to be on our young, they are our future. This partnership will not only allow us to reach more disadvantaged children but it will drive home our ethos, that digital innovation is crucial and can bring amazing changes to our everyday lives, inspiring them to think outside the box”.

Daniel Blondell, Chief Operating Officer of RingPay by McLEAR said: “We are proud to be working with One Running Movement and helping all ages to #MoveForLife more, we have been a Foundation Partner since the start and are proud to continue into 2021. This new digital partnership and essential fundraising with ORM and Digilearning will bring a new element of social change driven by the growing active community. Our new feature RingPay Giving  launched in partnership with Parsnip (getparsnip.com) is the essential element to bring this all together and make it possible”.

One Running Movement & McLEAR partnership continues to evolve

One Running Movement’s partnership with Smart Ring pioneers McLEAR, which was officially announced in January this year, has been evolving over the last few months with both parties working together to drive the movement forwards and to increase regular physical activity for current and future generations to #MoveForLife

McLEAR is the pioneer of wearable payment technology for consumers and businesses, and every McLEAR Smart Ring purchased via this dedicated page contributes to generating free ballot places for movers through One Running Movement, for everyone from the age of 4 upwards.

McLEAR has also been confirmed as a partner on Run for Climate Change, which is the latest programme launched by One Running Movement. Run For Climate Change is a new annual event, with the first edition taking place virtually this year where runners don’t just get rewarded with a sustainably sourced medal but also get a tree planted in their name (or dedicated to a loved one) by Planet-U Energy at a Yorkshire location. Runners of all ages can sign up to run a chosen distance of 5K, 10K, Half Marathon or Marathon, with benefits for the planet, communities, charities and their own wellbeing.

In addition to the generation of free places through the purchase of a McLEAR Smart Ring via the dedicated page, McLEAR have also chosen a One Running Movement charity partner collaboration as one of the benefiting organisations for their new RingPay Giving feature.

The RingPay Giving feature, launched in partnership with Parsnip (getparsnip.com), allows Ring holders to automatically send a micro-sized donation to their chosen charity when they make a purchase using their Smart Ring. Ring holders control how much they give using monthly donation caps. Any donations made to One Running Movements’s preferred charity, DigiLearning Foundation will contribute to free technology education courses for children, young adults and adults.

Joe Williams and Rebecca Richardson, Founders of One Running Movement, said: “We enjoy working with McLEAR, who are pioneers in their industry like us and we love the new RingPay features. Evolution, education and technology are hugely important to us at One Running Movement, and we would like to thank McLEAR for their continued support”.

“Carrying payment on your fingers and removing the need for cash, payment cards or getting your phone out is more relevant than ever before – if you can contribute to getting children aged 4 to 16 active through purchasing or using your Smart Ring then that’s another bonus!“

Daniel Blondell, Chief Operating Officer said: “We are proud to be working with One Running Movement and helping all ages to #MoveForLife more”.

“The mission with RingPay is to improve the payment experience; making it faster, effortless and more rewarding. Whether commuting to work, picking up some essentials or off on your travels, RingPay by McLEAR gives you peace of mind knowing your finances are safely in-hand. Just kick back and fist pump your way to better spending and awesome rewards.”

McLEAR invented the Smart Ring in 2012, which is designed and manufactured to be water and shock resistant and requires no battery; making it the ideal wearable payment device that fits seamlessly into any lifestyle. Ring holders can set rules and manage their Ring through a dedicated app, which also gives them access to numerous exclusive features and benefits.

One Running Movement (ORM) was established to help to create more active communities and support the creation of healthy habits, utilising the power of sport to improve physical and health and mental health. Current programmes include Run For Climate Change, One Running Movement Half Marathon, One Running Movement Marathon, Schools Half Marathon, Schools Marathon and Energy For Movement.

National Pride and One Running Movement get children moving in East Ayrshire

One Running Movement (ORM), a collaborative evolution for movement and change #MoveForLife, is bringing Schools Half Marathon | The Barony supported by National Pride and Active Schools to East Ayrshire this autumn.

With COVID-19 related measures and restrictions in place across Scotland, the importance of movement to benefit both physical and mental health is more relevant than ever before.

National Pride, a Community Interest Company established in 2018, has recently purchased The Barony with the intention of creating an eco-therapy wellness centre on the site.
As part of their investment in the area and in line with their core values, National Pride has funded a number of places for school children in the surrounding area of The Barony to complete their own Schools Half Marathon The Barony this year.

Schools Half Marathon is organised by One Running Movement (ORM) which was established to help create more active communities and support the creation of healthy habits, utilising the power of sport to improve physical and health and mental health.

The 2020 Schools Half Marathon The Barony will be taking place virtually, with the children completing their own cumulative 13.1 miles at school or at home before the end of the year, supported by Active Schools East Ayrshire Council.

All young runners will receive a Schools Half Marathon Colour My Miles Tracker, a wall tracker, a 6 star wristband awarded on completion of six miles, a One Running Movement technical t-shirt and a special edition finisher’s medal. The special edition “The Barony A-Frame“ medal is based on the huge pit-head winding gear frame which is all that remains of the colliery, reflecting the area’s history and heritage.

Irene Bisset, Chair at National Pride, said, “The Barony is an exciting, new project for National Pride and we are delighted to support local ORM activities. These fit perfectly with our belief in the role of the natural environment in wellness, physical and mental health.

“We are very proud to fund free places for primary school aged children in East Ayrshire, working with One Running Movement and Active Schools to encourage the future generation to be active. Being outside and experiencing nature has never been more important.”

Joe Williams and Rebecca Richardson, Founders of One Running Movement, added: “One Running Movement is very much aligned with National Pride’s mission, ethos and core values. We enjoy working with the team and continue to make a difference to current and future generations through the power of sport and movement, with health and wellness at the forefront of everybody’s mind”.

“The Barony A-Frame is a symbol of local pride and hope, and we are sure that the special edition medals earned by the young movers will find a proud place in their homes.“

National Pride is one of the Foundation Partners and Powered by Partners working together with founders Rebecca Richardson and Joe Williams. Foundation Partners include Polar, Up & Running, New Balance, One Water, McLEAR and Planet-U Energy, UKRunChat, Women’s Running, Run Mummy Run, Social Run Group, Breathe Unity and Social Chain.

Foundation Partner National Pride officially announce The Barony

Former Barony pit site in East Ayrshire to be developed as an Eco-Therapy Wellness Centre

Over 100 acres of currently disused land at the site of the former Barony coal mine in East Ayrshire has been sold to a firm of property and regeneration specialists who have paved the way for the development of an Eco-therapy Wellness Park.

Identified by National Pride UK (Community Interest Company), as the perfect site due to its natural beauty and historical mining background, the company is committed to doing business differently, using local partners and suppliers to deliver maximum benefit to the community; delivering training and employment and working closely with the environment to operate in a carbon-negative fashion.

The site near Auchinleck is adjacent to Dumfries House and the Barony ‘A’ Frame memorial garden. The new owner’s plans include a desire to work with the Barony ‘A’ Frame Trust to enhance the permanent memorial and surrounding area as a place of contemplation and in memory of the miners lost during the life of the colliery.

Irene Bisset, Chair of National Pride, says, “This is the first of several developments planned by National Pride and our investor partners, to take disused land and better utilise it to deliver community benefit.

“Our backers range from international investors who appreciate the need to respect the planet, to local groups and individuals who each bring their talents to enhance community beneficial projects.

“National Pride understands that physical and mental wellness has never been more important, especially in the very testing time of lockdowns, and that physical and mental wellness is best delivered by enhancing access to the natural environment.

“Huge potential exists within abandoned and post-industrial spaces. Our task is to combine resources to ensure health and social benefits are maximised, whilst providing investors with commercially sustainable returns over the long term.”

David McDowall, interim Head of Planning and Economic Development at East Ayrshire Council welcomed the proposals. He said, “The Planning Service has held early discussions with National Pride to consider the development opportunities for the brownfield site as an Eco-Therapy Wellness Centre.  As with any brownfield site, the Council is keen to explore the design proposals to establish the economic and environmental benefits to the local community.

“Once the development proposals are finalised, they will be subject to public consultation as part of the planning process, before the merits of the development against the Local Development Plan are considered by the Planning Committee.”

Run For Climate Change | World Mental Health Day

ORM (One Running Movement), a collaborative evolution for movement and change #MoveForLife, announced a Powered By Partnership with Planet-U Energy back in June. One Running Movement have now unveiled the details of their latest initiative which is supported by Planet-U Energy as well as their Foundation Partners.

There is one huge point of difference with this virtual event – runners don’t just get a wooden medal that is ethically and sustainably sourced whilst supporting local communities, for every entry received a tree is planted in Yorkshire by Planet-U Energy with a biodegradable plaque featuring the runner’s name. A picture of the tree will be sent to each runner within 12 months of it being planted. £2 of the entry fee is also donated to environmental and mental health charities.

With running and movement such a large contributing factor to mental health, the organisers have announced that registrations for Run for Climate Change 2020 open on World Mental Health Day which is observed on 10th October each year.

Runners of all ages can sign up to run a chosen distance of 5K, 10K, Half Marathon or Marathon, in line with movers health and wellbeing goals, and by doing so they contribute to the following:

  1. Helping yourself by being active and having a positive goal to aim or train for
  2. Helping the planet by raising awareness of climate change and renewable energy
  3. Helping communities where the wooden medals are made
  4. Helping charities who are committed to climate change and mental health

Samaritans and Surfers Against Sewage have been confirmed as the benefiting charities from the Run for Climate Change entries with £1 from each entry donated to each charity.

Registrations for #RunForClimateChange open this Saturday 10th October at 10.10 am, and runners can complete their pledged distance from the end of October to the end of December 2020. Different entries are available for individuals, families or businesses, with adult entry (age 17+) at £12 and children / young adults entry (age 16 and under) at £6, with everyone receiving the same rewards.

All entries include a wooden medal and a tree planted by Planet-U Energy for each runner. Supporting materials regarding training, renewable energy and climate change will be available on the One Running Movement online education channel, developing further in 2021. Medals will be sent out from November and trees will be planted in Yorkshire from December.

A mileage marker will track the accumulated distance pledged to run by every participant, with the aim to run around the world by 2022 and cover the distance of the earth’s circumference, as measured around the equator (40,075.017 km or 24,901.461 miles).

Grant Nicholson, Chief Executive of Planet-U Energy said: “Planet-U Energy has been working closely with One Running Movement over the last few months, and we are pleased to be part of this latest inspirational initiative that comes with so many benefits for the planet, communities, charities and both physical and mental health.

“We at Planet-U Energy feel passionate about tackling social change across all areas as well as renewable energy and climate change. We are proud to be planting trees in Yorkshire as part of this initiative and we are excited to work with ORM and their partners to ensure that our communities and our planet become healthier.”

Joe Williams and Rebecca Richardson, Founders of One Running Movement, added: “In today’s world there are many factors that affect mental health, and climate change plays a big role with the future of our planet at risk. We are excited to launch Run for Climate Change as an annual virtual event to start, and we will announcing further news over the coming months.

“We are calling these ‘honesty runs’ and we feel that everybody needs to make a personal commitment in line with own health and wellbeing goals, from a choice to run 5K, 10K, Half Marathon or Marathon distance, our movers pledge the miles. Trees are the ultimate carbon capture and storage machines so to speak, and it’s amazing that runners can contribute to Planet-U Energy planting trees at one of their Yorkshire locations for each Run for Climate Change entry received. Climate change is also closely linked to mental health and anxiety for many, and we are excited to offer an event in collaboration with Planet-U Energy that addresses both.”

“We are proud to be creating valuable funds through Run For Climate Change for Surfers Against Sewage and Samaritans. We have pledged to donate £1 to each charity equally for every runner that takes part. We are creating an equilibrium and raising awareness about the connection between environment changes, movement and mental health by all working together.”

The ORM Team

ORM and Planet-U Energy Align with Energy For Movement

ORM (One Running Movement), a collaborative evolution for movement and change #MoveForLife, is delighted to announce a Powered By Partnership with Planet-U Energy.

Shared aims of the new innovative partnership include generating gifted activity places for children and young adults across the UK through a new specific Energy For Movement business to business initiative. In 2021, ORM events are also due to take place at Planet-U Energy powered venues and stadiums that use the latest renewable and sustainable energy technologies, helping to reduce ORM’s carbon footprint.

Planet-U Energy (PUE) is the UK’s fastest growing, independent, renewable energy company. The business was established in 2018 and operates nationally from the Head Office based in Leeds City Centre. Their aim is to help all businesses, from offices to stadiums, factories and schools, to save time and money whilst reducing their carbon footprint, by switching to renewable energy and using the latest sustainable technology.

One Running Movement (ORM) was established to help to create more active communities, break down barriers of entry to activity, provide social intergenerational connectivity and support the creation of healthy habits. By encouraging school age pupils, siblings and families to get active, ORM is utilising the power of sport to improve health, strengthen resilience, build mental health and increase overall confidence through running, daily activity and movement.

The Energy For Movement initiative has been launched to support ORM’s mission to generate and provide free activity places for ages 4 to 16, and PUE’s drive to make renewable energy totally transparent, so that every company can take action today for a more sustainable tomorrow. Any businesses switching to renewable energy with Planet-U Energy and signing up to be MOVERS with ORM will see a reduction in their annual energy bills as well as a % of their annual energy bills being converted into movement through this unique partnership, Energy For Movement.

Grant Nicholson, Chief Executive of Planet-U Energy said: “I am very keen that Planet-U Energy tackles social change as well as climate change, so I am very excited about the opportunity to work with ORM, their partners and our collaborative MOVERS to ensure that our communities become healthier and more active.”

Rebecca Richardson, Co-Founder of ORM commented: “We are a strong force of nature individually but even more powerful by working together. We are delighted to announce this energised and innovative Powered By Partnership with Planet-U Energy focused around Energy For Movement. Becoming MOVERS with your business is easy to do, saves you money, contributes to saving the planet and helps more 4 to 16 year olds to be active. We are all winners here by adopting an approach that focuses on sustainability, movement and natural resources.”
